Interdisciplinary and topical research
YTK conducts both academic and applied research in its field, serving the needs of planning practice and policy development. We engage actively in co-operation with various research organizations, funding agencies and end users in both public and private domains. Research at YTK is grouped into spearhead focus areas, which combine different research traditions and topics.
Research at YTK seeks to answer topical questions such as
- the internationalization of urban and regional development and planning
- sustainable development and climate change as planning challenges
- changing needs and preferences in housing
- the communicative dimension in planning and diversification of expertise
Our research efforts are closely linked with our tasks in further education of planners. The professorships at YTK add the dimension of scientific postgraduate training to our profile.
